- The Embassy of Japan in Afghanistan and the Japanese Government are independently responsible for all the screening and selection processes of the applicants. The Aga Khan Foundation Afghanistan will be supporting the Embassy of Japan in collecting applications and facilitating the written examintions processes, but it will not bear any responsibility for selecting the candidates.
- The Embassy of Japan in Afghanistan and the Japanese Government select scholarship candidates fairly, without any religious, linguistic and ethnic identity. The selection will solely be based on the completeness and quality of the application documents as well as the results of the written examintions and the interview examinations.
- The application is free of charge, and the scholarship is fully funded (see 6. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS of the Guideline). If applicants are asked by any third party for any financial contributions, it could potentially be a scam. It is, therefore, the applicants’ responsibility to be vigilant and avoid scams.
- No applications will be accepted by any means other than those sent via the e-mail address provided above.
- Document screening will be based solely on the content of the submitted application documents. Therefore, the applications submitted must be complete.
- Age limits set by the MEXT Guidelines are definite. No exceptions can be made under any circumstances.
- Due to the large number of applications received every year, only those who pass the document screening will be contacted for the written examintions. The reasons for the acceptance or rejections will not be communicated to the applicants.
- The date of the written examintions and the interview examinations could potentially change in case any unforeseen circumstance disrupts the schedule. Applicants will be notified in advance if any such changes happen.
- The written examinations and the interview examinations will be held in Kabul and no one can remotely participate both of them from outside Afghanistan.
- The Embassy of Japan in Afghanistan will select Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship candidates only for research students. Applications for Undergraduate scholarships will not be accepted.
